SERVICES | Secant Pile Wall Shoring Systems

Secant pile walls consist of overlapping concrete piles that form a strong, watertight barrier. They can be constructed either with conventional drilling methods or through the use of CFA techniques. Secant pile walls typically include both reinforced primary and unreinforced secondary piles. The primary piles overlap the secondary piles, with the secondary piles essentially acting as concrete lagging. The reinforcement in the primary piles generally consists of rebar cages or steel beams.

The end result is a continuous intersecting line of concrete piles that can be placed before any excavation is performed. Secant pile walls are frequently constructed in closed shapes to form cofferdams and are particularly useful in saturated soil where zero ground loss is of the highest importance.
